As we talk to many of our clients we learn a lot about different support available for small to medium sized businesses. We have also learnt though that not many businesses know about this help.
So, we thought we’d write a series of blog posts which introduce you to some of the many websites created to support businesses.
The first website we’ll highlight is www.greatbusiness.gov.uk, which is part of the Great Business Campaign. This is a Government run website which provides ‘support, advice and inspiration for growing your business’.
It covers a wide range of topics such as:
- Information on how and where to get advice on copyright, patents, design and trademarks
- Advice on how to grow your business through international trade
- Finance help and advice
- Latest information on employment rules, training opportunities and working practices
The finance page, for example, is dedicated to providing information and advice on a wide range of finance topics such as finance options for new businesses, equity finance, bank lending appeals, and funding and support for new ideas. It also outlines the different schemes and incentives available to help companies of all sizes secure funding and get tax relief, such as The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and information on research and development tax credits.
The website also has a dedicated section to women starting their own business. There has never been a better time than now to be a female entrepreneur and this website has a section dedicated to woman in enterprise. It outlines the many different resources and support available specifically to women to help them develop their business.
The website is definitely worth a look for business owners who are either just starting out or are hoping to grow their business.
